Earn your Strengths-based Leadership Certificate completely online with a combination of live interactive sessions and self-paced assignments! This flexible certificate program provides supervisors, managers, directors, and emerging leaders with an opportunity to learn and practice skills leading to a more empowered workplace. Leaders may choose to attend just the workshops that interest them or sign up for the complete certificate program. Participants who attend all five workshops, complete a final project and present the project at a sixth meeting will receive Temple University Harrisburg’s Strengths-based Leadership Certificate. The first five workshops can be completed in any order.
We are excited to offer a virtual option for our popular Strengths-based Leadership workshops! This virtual option consists of a half-day online workshop followed by approximately three hours of online coursework, which you complete on your own time within three weeks of attending the half-day workshop.
Strengths-based Leadership: An Overview
Participants will discuss what defines an empowering workplace and reflect on their own approach to leadership.
Communication Skills for Strengths-based Leaders
Participants will learn and practice strengths-based communication techniques that will improve relationships and improve results.
Culture and the Strengths-based Leader
Participants will reflect on their own culture, how it has shaped their values and beliefs, and what impact it may have on their role as a leader.
Performance Management and the Strengths-based Leader
In this workshop, leaders will practice giving and receiving strengths-based feedback, discuss goal plans, and identify the benefits of using tools to measure progress.
Strengths-based Leaders Impacting Change
In this session, participants will discuss their vision for their team and identify strengths-based approaches to change and collaboration.
Strengths-based Leadership Final Presentations
This course is available to individuals who have completed the five workshops of the Strengths-based Leadership Series. To complete the certificate, participants must submit a final project plan, implement the project for 30 days, create and record a 5-minute video of your presentation that is shared in your Final Presentation workshop via Canvas, and submit a Final Report.

All cancellation/transfer requests must be in writing via email to sbleader@temple.edu and received by the Temple University Harrisburg staff before becoming effective.
**Please note: If a cancellation and/or transfer request is not made and the registrant does not attend the course as originally scheduled, the registrant is still responsible for payment for the scheduled course.
Cancellation Policy:
Cancellation requests received ten (10) business days or more prior to the start of the scheduled course will be eligible for a full refund of fees paid.
Cancellations received less than 10 business days prior to the start of the scheduled course will be subject to a cancellation fee of $30.00. Cancellations received less than three (3) business days prior to the start of the scheduled course will not be eligible for a refund.
TUH reserves the right to cancel continuing education events due to low enrollment.
In the event of inclement weather (applies to in-person classes only), Temple University Harrisburg will make every effort to cancel events with as much advance notice as possible. Notification will be sent via email/CE Systems once a decision to close or delay has been made. In all instances, TUH will follow the University’s cancellation decisions.
Request to Transfer
If you cannot make a workshop and wish to transfer to a future workshop, you must submit a request to be transferred in writing via email to Carolyn Truchon at sbleader@temple.edu and the request must be received by the Temple University Harrisburg staff before becoming effective.
Transfer requests received ten (10) business days or more prior to the start of the scheduled course will be eligible for a one-time transfer at no cost. Additional transfer requests or requests less than 10 days prior to the start of the course will be subject to a $15.00 administrative fee.
Continuing Education - Social Work
Available and optional at check-out. This item must be paid for at check out. The continuing Education fee is $20.00.
To obtain Social Work Continuing Education Hours, please complete the following items:
- Pay the Continuing Education Fee (optional choice at check-out)
- Attend the entire course and sign-in
- Complete the online request form
- Complete the Course Evaluation after attending (must include name)
This workshop has been approved for 6.5 continuing education hours, 3.5 of which are via home study, through Temple University Harrisburg, a PA State Board of Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists, and Professional Counselors pre-approved provider of continuing education. These credit hours satisfy the requirements for LSW/LCSW/LMFT/LPC biennial license renewal. Certificates of attendance documenting continuing education hours will be issued by Temple University Harrisburg.
