The Upward Bound and Upward Bound Math-Science programs are a TRIO funded college access program designed to provide first generation, low-income and students with academic risk support in pursuing their collegiate pursuits. The program operates year round and consists of: weekday after-school tutoring/programming, Saturday enrichment instruction and a six-week Summer Bridge session that culminates with an out of state college tour. Students are expected to participate year round programming upon acceptance. This program is available to serve Philadelphia public, charter and cyber school students only. 

Note: We may not accept students attending private or parochial schools. 

The Application Process:

  • Completion of this application will take up to an hour.
  • Please hit submit only when you have completed all sections of the application.
  • You may save and return to your work, so the application does not need to be completed in one session. 

What you will need:

  • Complete all sections of the application
  • Answer the writing/essay prompts
  • Demographic information for your parents/guardians
  • Names and email addresses for references (Math, English and Science teachers) of your choice
  • Supporting Documents (these items may be uploaded to your application)
    • Most recent report card 
    • 8th grade or most recent standardized test scores 
    • Transcript (for high school students only) 

Next Steps: 

  • You will receive notification that your application has been received and under staff review. 
  • Please look out for any messages from program staff within 72 hours of submission if there is a problem with your application. 
  • You will be contacted to schedule an interview by a member of our staff. 
  • You will be asked to provide supporting documents (ex. Financial verification documents) at the time of your interview
