When you apply for Optional Practical Training (OPT) you are applying to the USCIS for employment authorization.
The application you submit to the USCIS must include an I-20 generated by the office of International Student and Scholar Services. The I-20 will contain a recommendation for OPT. The application you are about to complete here will result in your receiving that I-20. ISSS will take between five and seven business days to generate the I-20. If you do not receive an email from ISSS within seven business days of submitting the application, please send an email to email@example.com
When the I-20 is generated, you will receive an email from this office letting you know it is available. You will then send the I-20 along with all required documentation to the USCIS. Your application for employment authorization will be reviewed by them. The process can take as few as three moths or as many as five months. It depends on how many applications the USCIS is processing. There is no way to expedite the application for employment authorization.
You will receive an email from firstname.lastname@example.org acknowledging that this application as submitted. If you do not receive an email confirming your application was submitted, ISSS has not received it.
