Set your sights on summer!

Temple Summer Academy is a pre-college program for rising 11th and 12th graders that combines project-based non-credit workshops with one college course. Summer Academy is on Temple's Main Campus in Philadelphia.

Program Components

• 1 college course (3 credits)
• 2 non-credit workshops 
• Lunch 
• Learn about and use resources for student success
• Make new friends in class and through campus activities and field trips
• Opt to live on campus with a roommate
• Students who pass their college course with a B or better receive a $1,000 per year tuition grant as part of their financial aid if they are admitted to Temple. Students who maintain continuous full-time enrollment at Temple, and a GPA of 3.0 or better, can renew this grant for three additional years of undergraduate study

Program Fee

• $3,700 for the full-day, four-week program. This includes two workshops, one three-credit College course and lunch
• NOT included: housing and meals (optional), books and supplies (required for some workshops or courses)

How to Fill Out This Application

Click "Apply Now" and provide the following information or documents:

• High school transcript (Cumulative GPA showing all grades from 9th grade and up, including grades from current academic year). You can submit multiple files. Unofficial copies are acceptable
• Description of volunteer or student activities
• Personal essay
• Recommendation from a teacher or guidance counselor (Provide their name and contact information and a recommendation form will be emailed to them)
• Optional additional information and essays for financial aid applicants

Generally, international students may attend our summer programs on a B tourist visa or ESTA visa waiver program.  I-20s will not be issued for obtaining an F1 visa.

What Happens Next?

The application opens on 12/1 and closes on 5/1. Priority is given to applications received by 3/1.  We recommend applying early for the best chance to get the workshops you want.

Once a student completes their application, that application will be reviewed by Temple Pre-College and students will be notified of their decision 2-4 weeks after application (1/15, 2/15, 3/15, 4/15 and 5/15). You will be given instructions at that time on how to claim your space in your program by paying your 10% deposit. You will also be able to add on-campus housing with an additional deposit to hold your space in the residence hall. Prior to beginning your program, you will complete the next steps for admitted students.

It is recommended to pay your deposit within two-weeks of acceptance as classes are filled in order of deposit.  The deadline to enroll is 4/1 with later registrations accepted if space allows through 6/1.

Admission to Summer Academy does not guarantee later admission to Temple University, and rejection from Summer Academy does not indicate later rejection to Temple University.
