Course Description
Whether you’re new to project management or you’re juggling several projects at once, a solid foundation in the fundamentals of project management is essential. This course introduces you to the project management framework, updated in accordance with the latest changes to the PMP® framework. You‘ll learn about the process and business environment domains, the tasks that project managers need to complete, and the actions needed to complete the tasks.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this class, students will be able to:
- Define the PMI framework for managing projects;
- Identify business outcomes of projects;
- Prepare a Project Charter to formally initiate a project;
- Perform a Stakeholder Analysis to map out optimal stakeholder engagement;
- Employ a Work Breakdown Structure to organize and track project work;
- Construct a project timeline.
Instructor Biography
Julie Spokus, Scrum Master, is an experienced IT Specialist with over 20 years of experience. Her work experience has been in the following fields: K-12 education, higher education, legal, healthcare, and government contracting. She got her start in the IT field as a technical trainer, and then moved into agile software development as a product owner and a scrum master. She is passionate about agile software development and holds various agile certifications as well as the PMP. Julie's education includes a Master of Art in Teaching Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from Mount Vernon College and a Master of Science in Management of Information Technology from the University of Virginia.
