 From Environmental Protection to Sustainable Development: What are the challenges ahead of us?

  • Description: In the last 50 years, the concept of environmental protection has become central to many sectors in our society. This lecture will address the evolution of environmental protection and how the international community has been addressing pressing environmental challenges, including those still ahead of us.
  • Prof. Andrea Innamorati is a Senior Policy Advisor for the Italian Ministry for the Environment, Land and Sea. He has recently completed a fellowship program in sustainability science at the John Fitzgerald Kennedy School of Government in the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at Harvard University, where he focused primarily on sustainable development governance within the European Union institutions. Since 2003, he has represented the Government of Italy in numerous international conferences and multilateral intergovernmental processes related to sustainable development. He is a visiting lecturer on International Environmental Governance in the Faculty of Law of the Università la Sapienza in Rome.
