Daniel Vieyra
Tuesdays, 1:30 PM-2:30 PM
Sept. 21-Oct. 19 | Session 1

The course examines the everyday built environment and the ways it has been studied to foster a greater understanding of why the ordinary landscape looks the way it does. Students will be introduced to the various ways in which these landscapes have been interpreted by architectural historians, geographers, anthropologists, and others. Major writers and theoreticians on the subject will be introduced, and their contributions evaluated. Finally, possible new directions for studying the built environment and settlement patterns will be discussed.
