Catatonia Training

This course is private to PerformCare Staff. Registration on this site is required for all participants.

Training link will be provided by PerformCare.

 

Certificates of attendance documenting continuing education hours or units will be issued by Temple University Harrisburg. 

This program has been approved for 1 Social Work Continuing Education hour. Temple University Harrisburg is a PA State Board of Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists, and Professional Counselors preapproved provider of continuing education. These credit hours satisfy requirements for LSW/LCSW/LMFT/LPC biennial license renewal. 

If you are interested in receiving a certificate of continuing education, the following steps must be completed:

  1. Register for this course through this site.
  2. Complete the CE Request Form.
  3. Attend the entire training. 
  4. If attending by watching the training recording, a post-test will be required with a minimum of 80% correct.
  5. Complete an online program evaluation.

Course Outline

This training reviews the various presentations of the Catatonia diagnosis. Symptoms if the various types are reviewed as well as possible causes. A review of how catatonia is distinguished from other similar diagnoses is included. Several visual representations of Catatonia are displayed to aide in understanding of each type of Catatonia. Finally, treatments for this diagnosis will be discusses. Participants will be able to use information from this training to respond to treatment information and presentation for PerformCare members presenting for MH IP treatment.

 

This training will be presented live-virtually. The training will also be recorded, which will require participants to take a post-test and receive a score of 80% or higher to be eligible for Social Work continuing education. Learner Outcomes

By the end of this presentation, the participant will be able to:

1. Identify different presentations of catatonia
2. Identify symptoms consistent with catatonia
3. Identify potential classes of etiologies of catatonia
4. Discuss basics of differential diagnosis of catatonia
5. Discuss the basics of treatment of catatonia
