Course Description

A FURTHER LOOK AT BUDDHISM

Instructor: William Stauffer
6-Week Course
Tuesdays, June 1-July 13, 10:00 AM-11:30 AM

This class takes a deeper look at two aspects of the Buddha’s teaching: the law of karma and the limitless mind of loving-kindness. We will explore these topics more deeply than is possible in an introductory class. There will be a brief review of the Buddha’s main teachings during the first week, and each class will begin with a short meditation.
Max. Registrants: 30

A student should have taken an introductory course on Buddhism (offered at OLLI by Bill Stauffer or Helen Rosen) or should otherwise be familiar with the Four Noble Truths and other basic Buddhist teachings.  The student should be able to do a simple meditation for 5 to 10 minutes since each class will start that way.

Notes

Why when I'm registering do I join the wait list?
Several of our courses are in high demand. In order to accommodate our members who are not tech-savvy and have trouble registering online-we created a registration system in which there is no advantage to registering early, no disadvantage to registering later. When you register, you join the wait list for the course. After the registration period is over, we run a lottery on the courses, and it randomly determines who is admitted to each course and who is not. You typically receive word about which courses you are admitted to, two weeks before the start of the semester.

When will I be notified which classes I have been admitted to?
We typically notify our members about which courses they are admitted to at least two weeks before the semester starts.
