Course Description

What was on Pope Julius II’s mind as he left the Sistine Chapel after checking on Michelangelo’s work? What did Will Shakespeare and his friends talk about when they went out for a pint? Which artists created a “buzz” in the court of Frederick the Great? The world before our time was every bit as complex and multifaceted as ours. This course will look at European (mostly) history across the spectra of art, music, science, technology, war, and politics from the Middle Ages until the Victorian era.
