Course Description

Reading is fundamental and becomes even more important as one matures in life. The need to read paper and technical material become important across the lifespan. This course will use technology to build reading and writing skills while preparing participants to finish their secondary education, advance to post-secondary education, acquire occupational certificates, and understand everyday materials such as financial statements, Medicare manuals, prescription drugs information, etc.

 

Instructor: Ulicia Lawrence-Oladeinde is the Coordinator of the Temple University Lenfest Center for Community and Workforce Partnerships, New Choices program. She has almost forty years of experience teaching critical reading for information, career, and education. She is the former Director of PASCEP and believes in continuing to “give back” to the program. She is also a member of the Philadelphia Reentry Coalition, and The Sentencing Foundation under Philadelphia Municipal Court Judge Stephanie Sawyer.
