New Developments in Early Language and Literacy Instruction for Teachers Pursuing National Board Certification

This course is designed to support early-grade teachers working in urban settings as they pursue National Board Certification. Four interactive workshops, each held on a Saturday morning, will offer expert guidance on recent developments in effective instruction for vocabulary, phonemic awareness/phonics, comprehension, and writing. Content is strategically aligned with District curricula and PD efforts as well as National Board of Professional Teaching Standards literacy standards (NBPTS), ensuring that strategies can be easily taken into the classroom. Hands-on small-group and individual activities will prepare teachers for National Board Certification Components 1 and 2.
