Course Description

Geology’s Paradigm Problem

Instructor: Eric Clausen
Dates: Tuesdays, June 6-June 27
Time: 10:00 AM-11:30 AM
Location: Online via Zoom

Based on the instructor’s new book The Topographic Map Mystery: Geology’s Unrecognized Paradigm Problem (which does not have to be read to participate) this 4-week lecture/discussion class will explore with illustrated PowerPoint slides why geologists cannot explain United States Geological Survey topographic map drainage system and erosional landform evidence. Among the topics to be discussed are the nature of scientific paradigms and North American glacial history as that glacial history is now explained and what changes in that glacial history are needed to explain the topographic map drainage system and erosional landform evidence.
