German Language and Culture for Advanced+ Beginners

This multi-level course integrates German language study-- reinforcement of grammatical structures, vocabulary expansion, speaking and listening practice, pronunciation-- with the study of aspects of German culture. Topics in the fall will include German cuisine, travel destinations, and history. Participants whose German competence may range from advanced beginner to advanced work with partners and small groups to practice speaking with the goal of increasing fluency and accuracy.
Pre-requisite: Students should have at least a fundamental background in German. Students must be willing to participate actively in small-group work. Students joining by Zoom must know how to join break-out rooms and how to use course materials sent by e-mail attachment.

Instructor Bio:
Cheri Micheau, (PhD, educational linguistics, 1990, Penn) taught graduate courses in educational linguistics and language at West Chester, Drexel, Temple, and Penn, and coached teachers of English as a second language (ESL) in the School District of Philadelphia. She taught K–12 ESL in Upper Merion and in Philadelphia, as well as German in York, PA, and at Frankfurt International School in Germany.
