Course Description

The Judicial Process and the Role of Courts in American Society

Alan Gershenson

Registration Required

Abortion, campaign financing, same sex marriage, gun control, prayer in schools, immigration; these are all subjects where the courts have held that laws or action by democratically elected legislatures or executives are unconstitutional. How do those cases get to and through the court system? Are the courts acting properly or are they assuming too much power? We will discuss what should be the balance between the judicial and elected legislative and executive branches.

9 Wednesdays, 10:30 AM – 11:45 AM 5/30 – 8/1
