Course Description

This two-week summer program offers students the unique opportunity to use their creativity to compose songs using technology.  The program consists of listening, analyzing, rearranging, reharmonizing and discussing various types of songs, and recording original music. Students will learn how to use structure, melody, rhythm, and harmony to support their lyrics and ideas.  The course will cover writing songs in different styles from different approaches. After writing original songs, each student will receive feedback from peers and the instructor to improve their songwriting skills.

Students have the opportunity to learn an online music sequence program to record or they can use their own sequencing program.

Technology Requirements:

Must have access to a laptop or desktop and Google Chrome.

Notes

All registrations, including minors, must be completed using the student's name and date of birth. Parents/guardians should be listed as Emergency Contact.
