Course Description

Online users say a website’s design is the number one criteria for deciding whether a company is credible or not, according to recent research. Understanding what it takes to produce effective web design is essential in today’s market of highly saturated digital competition.
   
Discover the basics of web design using HTML and CSS. The No prior knowledge of HTML or web design is required. Throughout the course you will get the info you need to plan and design effective web pages. Come away knowing how to implement web pages by writing HTML and CSS code. And discover ways to enhance web pages with the use of page layout techniques, text formatting, graphics, and images.

Publishing Your Site

  • Domain Name Registration / Hosting Services
  • Finding the appropriate Hosting space
  • Publishing Website Using FTP-Client

Course outcomes

At the end of the course you will:

  • Understand the principles of creating an effective web page, including an in-depth consideration of information architecture.
  • Be familiar with graphic design principles that relate to web design and learn how to implement these theories into practice.
  • Learn the language of the web: HTML and CSS.
  • Know how to identify the most common types of Web graphic files and how they are optimized for Web presentation.
  • Be able to select appropriate Website design and development software.

Course objectives

  • How to plan an organized web layout using web safe colors, and fonts within a proper file management structure.
    Basic HTML and CSS execution

  • How to optimize images for the Web and understand file formats.
  • How to effectively launch webpages to the Internet through an FTP client
  • The process of acquiring a domain name and hosting service.

Instructor: Marcus Lander, has been building web applications since 1996 and has been a technical trainer since 1999. He has facilitated many software courses, programs and manuals over the years and his preferences tend to lean towards web application development and design.

This course is part of the Certificate in Web Design, offered in partnership with LERN/UGotClass.

This is a self-paced online course (no live zoom meetings) is scheduled for April 1-26 2024. There are no set meeting dates or times.

Note: Students will receive Log-On instructions via email from LERN/UGotClass

 It is easy to participate in your online course. After you register, you will be given a web address to go to get into your online classroom.  You will have a password and use your email address and password to gain access.

You can participate any time of day or evening. The online classroom is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  There are no live real-time requirements or meetings. You decide when you participate.  For the best learning, participants should log into the course on 2-3 different days of the week.
