PASCEP0416 - Effective Conversations around Race and Racism for Adult Literacy Practitioners

Course Description

Black Lives Matter, White Supremacy, The Civil Rights Movement of 1968, and Police Brutality, are all subject that arise in adult education classrooms. Cultural Competence has "scratched the surface" while addressing biases and prejudices toward others.   This course provides opportunity for instructors to facilitate discussions that may be emotionally and morally challenging.  The course begins with a series of conversations among practitioners.  Techniques to facilitate academic discussions around Race and Racism will build instructional methodologies..  Although the course is directed to Adult literacy practitioners, it is also appropriate for anyone working with adult learners or non profit organizations who desires to address the current climate in America.
