Course Description

The SFW Learning Coach and Instructor play a vital role in coaching the family worker as they earn their SFW Credential.  This virtual training provides SFW Certified Learning Coaches and Instructors with a refresher and updates of the SFW Curriculum.  It will enhance the skills necessary to provide valuable coaching and instruction to the SFW participants. Upon registration, you will receive information about accessing the online modules through Canvas. You will be notified if you passed the course successfully or if additional information is required. 

Course Requirements Prerequisites:

 Instructors - Must have attended an Instructor Academy to recertify in this course.

Learning Coaches - Must have attended a New Learning Coach training.

Dual Roles - Only need to attend this recertification course to recertify in both roles but must have attended both the Instructor Academy and a New Learning Coach Training prior to taking this course.

Thank you for your participation in the SFW Virtual Learning Coach & Instructor Recertification! This virtual training has been updated to capture updated returning learning coach information (including resume and past experiences) and to utilize Temple's online learning system, Canvas. In order to access Canvas and begin, there are a few steps we need to complete.

  1. Please make sure your demographics in DestinyOne are up-to-date (please email sfwtuh@temple.edu for help) 
  2. An updated Resume may be requested 
  3. To Register and access your course, follow the instructions below.

What are the steps for me to activate my Temple University AccessNet account and start my Canvas course?

  1. Register in Destiny One
    1. Use your Destiny One account (TU_XXXXXX) to register at noncredit.temple.edu
  2. Check your email
    1. An activation email will be sent to the email address marked as preferred in Destiny One
    2. The subject of the email will be "Temple University Systems Access" and will contain a link to AccessNet account page
  3. Activate your AccessNet account
    1. Click the link in the activation email to be taken to the activation page
    2. Verify your identity and follow the prompts on the page
  4. Log into Canvas
    1. You may need to wait up to 24 hours after activating your AccessNet account before the online learning access is ready.

Once you are logged into Canvas, if you do not see your course, click the Courses menu, if the course appears, add it to your Dashboard by clicking the star to the left of the course. If the course does not appear, check with the program contact person listed on DestinyOne where you registered for the course. If you don’t see your course listed here on your dashboard, please contact destiny1@temple.edu for assistance.
