Course Description

Increased visibility and a push for more inclusion have led to a burgeoning need for LGBTQ+ competent care, otherwise known as queer-affirming care. This workshop will take learners beyond definitions and social constructs to introduce a trauma-informed way of accepting, empowering, and supporting clients on spectrums of gender and sexual identities. Queer-affirming care is a framework that responds to, rather than perpetuates, the historical trauma and oppression LGBTQ+ individuals and their communities experience. Furthermore, it will provide advocacy next steps for organizational changes that will make queer-affirming care more accessible.
