Course Description

Immerse yourself in English while learning about the arts in one of America’s largest cities. Philadelphia is rich in history and the arts, and summer is an exciting time to enjoy the vibrant arts scene in the city while you are improving your English skills. You don’t have to be accomplished in the arts to benefit from this program – just bring your desire to learn English and your interest in all things artistic!

Spend your mornings strengthening your English listening and speaking, reading poetry and fiction, and learning to write creatively in English. In the afternoons, explore the outdoor music and arts festivals, extensive collection of public art, and some of the greatest cultural treasures in the world: the Philadelphia Museum of Art, The Barnes Collection, the Curtis Institute, and many others.

Students will live the American student life in a shared dormitory right on Temple’s campus! Tuition also includes all meals which will be provided at the Louis J. Esposito Dining Center, located conveniently just downstairs from your dorm room.

We will visit Philadelphia’s major art attractions and festivals. In addition, our groups will:

  • Take a day trip to New York City with visits to the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) or the Metropolitan Museum of Art (The Met) and an Off-Broadway show
  • Watch an organ demonstration at the Kimmel Center
  • Join a Mural Arts tour of Philadelphia
  • Participate in workshops & an “art exhibition” developed by Temple University’s Tyler School of Art
  • Spend the day at Ocean City beach on the New Jersey shore & so much more!
