Course Description

This one-week workshop approaches color as raw material. We will explore the different qualities of opaque, opal, and transparent glasses and experiment with maximizing the uniqueness of each. Students will pull several different varieties of cane including encased, veil cane and layered full color cane to be used as "stock" for later processes, and bundle these canes in different configurations to achieve specific results and build complex murrini. Various murrini applications will be introduced through demonstration and in-studio collaboration. Students will leave this class with a very comprehensive overview of both classic and experimental murinni patterns.
