Course Description

Course Description:  The purpose of the course is to look at the rise of technology and the challenges that come with its use and potential over use.  Although it provides many benefits it also comes with some great concerns.  We will look at the effects of technology on adults and children, the growing concern of Internet addiction and the implications for therapeutic interventions.

Target Audience: Beginner

Learner Outcomes

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

• Identify patterns of technology use for children and adolescents
• Compare and contrast the benefits and challenges of technology on individuals' physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development

When participants return to work, they will be able to:

• Assess the impact of technology on the lives of children and youth
• Choose and implement and intervention that addresses maladaptive use
