Course Description

Rioja remains the pre-eminent winemaking region in Spain today with a tradition going back to 300 BCE, distinquishing itself in the production of the Tempranillo grape. The influence of French winemakers who left their ailing vineyards in the Bordeaux region in the 1850’s to make wine in Spain helped Rioja wine acquire it’s early popular style of long aging in oak barrels. As a result of this association, Rioja wines were often thought of as the ‘Spanish Bordeaux’ but have a more delicate style similar to Burgundy. Get to know them and enjoy an evening of world class wines.
