IELP4203 - Level 10 - Advanced Plus Writing

Course Description

Advanced WRIT 3 prepares students to engage in the research process. Through selected activities and reading topics, students will identify a topic and develop an appropriate thesis statement on which to base their research. Students will learn to locate appropriate secondary sources through Temple University libraries and databases and incorporate these sources into their paper. Students will review the writing process, appropriate synthesis of sources, proper in-text citation of sources, as well as recognition and avoidance of plagiarism. Upon completion of the first draft, students will then practice the steps necessary to make meaningful revisions to their research essay. Relevant grammar, vocabulary, and writing structures will be taught in the context of the student’s writing.
