HBGIASH0012 - Teaching about Identity, Attraction and Behavior
Course Description
Part information about sexual orientation, part technical support on how to teach about orientation, and part activities to use in the classroom, this workshop is current, engaging, informational, and fun! If you’ve ever found yourself wondering about asexuality or how to teach about the difference between bisexual and biromantic, this workshop is for you! You will leave energized and full of ideas and activities to use with your participants.Course Outline
Participants will be able to:
1. identify at least one linguistic barrier to teaching about orientation and a method for overcoming it.
2. explain fundamental differences between identity, attraction, and behavior.
3. identify at least two new activities for teaching basic information about sexual orientation.
4. describe at least two activities that address ways that LGBTQ+ relationships differ from heterosexual, cisgender relationships.
5. explain aspects of sexual orientation that relate to social justice.
6. select an appropriate activity about sexual orientation for a given context.

Please note that there are 2 different locations for this training:
Harrisburg (HBGIASH0012-001) and Temple University Ambler (HBGIASH0012-002).
Registration will be from 8:30 am – 9:00 am; Training will start promptly at 9:00 am and end at 4:00 pm.
Lunch will be provided.
This workshop/program has been approved for 6 continuing education hours through co-sponsorship of Temple University Harrisburg, a PA State Board of Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists, and Professional Counselors pre-approved provider of continuing education. These credit hours satisfy requirements for LSW/LCSW/LMFT/LPC biennial license renewal. Certificates of attendance documenting continuing education hours will be issued by Temple University Harrisburg
