Course Description

In our current climate, many trainers are being called upon to provide training for their schools, organizations, or corporations regarding transgender and gender nonconforming identities. In this two-day long course, participants will engage in exercises to prepare trainers to be fully equipped to provide best practice language and the most impactful message when providing training or facilitating conversations around transgender identities and experiences. This course is designed for participants with a strong knowledge and understanding of LGBTQIA issues.

Location:  LGBT Center of Central PA, 1306 North Third Street, Harrisburg PA, 17102

8:30am – 4:30pm Training
Lunch will be provided.

Learner Outcomes

At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

- Recite best practices and up-to-date vocabulary for teaching a course with content on transgender identities.

- Access tools and resources to provide more effective trainings.

- Apply training and facilitation skills and that convey transgender content to audiences with varying levels of understanding and acceptance.

- Examine intersectionality as it pertains to multiple aspects of oppression experienced by some members of the transgender community.

Notes

Registration: - Individual online registration is required for each person. - There is a limited number of registrations available per training. The training will run from 8:30am to 4:30pm with sign-in beginning at 8:00am. Lunch will be provided. Continuing Education Credit: If you are interested in receiving CE credits for the training, select the “TUH CEs” Option. Payment must be made at checkout.

These workshops have been approved for continuing education hours (CEs) through co-sponsorship of Temple University Harrisburg, a Pennsylvania State Board of Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists, and Professional Counselors pre-approved provider of continuing education.  These credit hours satisfy requirements for LSW/LCSW/LMFT/LPC biennial license renewal.
