Course Description
Counselors working with couples in committed relationships face unique challenges within the relationship. This course examines the dynamics of couples from the beginning, middle and, sometimes, end of the relationship for various reasons. This course qualifies as an elective toward a certificate in Military Counseling.
Certificate in Military Counseling:
To qualify for a certificate in military counseling, students must complete
8 three credit courses (totaling 24 CE hours)
Including 3 required courses and 5 electives from the list below.

o Military Counseling II: Military Culture 101 – Implications for Clinical Treatment
o Military Counseling III: The Invisible Wounds of War

o Military Counseling VI: Working with Military Couples and Partners
o Military Counseling VII: Women Warriors
o Military Counseling VIII: Military Healthcare and Community Response
o Self-care and Vicarious Trauma: Taking Care of Yourself While Taking Care of Others
o Cognitive Processing Therapy
o Trauma and Neurobiology I
o Trauma and Neurobiology II
