Course Description
Course Description: This course provides a foundation of theory, skills and knowledge necessary in the practice of military counseling. Clinical work with the military, not unlike other facets of clinical practice, must keep in mind the culture of the individual within the context of his or her unique environmental history. Qualifies as a required course toward a certificate in Military Counseling.

Learner Outcomes
By the end of the workshop participants will be able to:
1. Identify unique aspects of military culture including tradition, language, and rituals.
2. Name the specific branches of the military.
3. Recognize the unique culture of each branch including components of Homeland Security, National Guard, and Reserves.
4. Distinguish between enlisted personnel and officer corps.
5. Demonstrate knowledge of the unique and evolving role of women in the military.
6. List the stages of the Deployment Cycle.
7. Name the Signature Wounds of War and some treatment options.
