Course Description

Presented by Dr. Kathryn Brzozowski. Dr. Brzozowski is an Assistant Professor, Temple University School of Social Work. She is certificated in End-of-Life Care from Smith College School of Social Work, She has published articles on “Diversity of Practice in Hospitals and Hospice,” “Outpatient Medical Care in Social Work Practice,” “The Role of Social Workers in Cancer Care,” among others. Over her 20 years of medical social work experience, Dr. Brzozowski has presented “Bridging the Gap Between Adult Children and their Aging Parents,” “Living Beyond Breast Cancer,” “Managing Emotions and Coping with Adjustments,” and many more.

Medical Social Work is projected to grow by 22% over the next 4 years and is one of the highest paying specializations in social work practice. Medical social workers hold vital positions in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, primary care, assisted living, out-patient facilities, hospice and virtually any other health care facility or practice. Medical social workers can further specialize in oncology, end of life, dialysis, neonatal and psychiatric social work careers. This course will provide foundational knowledge on the roles settings, and skills of a medical social worker.
