Course Description

Social media is an essential component of a company's marketing plan and identity. You will learn the strategy around developing and deploying social media marketing for a business, and how to convert fans to customers and measure success. Topics include:

  • social etiquette,
  • organization and operation of social media strategies, and
  • the historical lead-up to this new industry.

This course provides practical knowledge and real-world skills in implementing a social media strategy, developing social media content, and keeping up with continually evolving technology and tools. 


This is an online course with live synchronous meetings via Webex. 

You will need regular access to a computer with an internet connection and a built-in or external webcam and microphone. High speed broadband access (LAN, Cable or DSL) is highly recommended for the optimal learning experience.

The online course runs October 7 - November 8, 2019 with live synchronous meetings on Thursdays, from 7:00 -8:00 p.m. EST on October 10, 17, 24, 31 and, November 7, 2019.  (Please note, the October 31st Class may end up meeting on Wednesday, October 30th)

Payment is due upon registration. A participant who withdraws from a non-credit course, in writing, up to one-week prior to the starting date of the course, will receive a refund, minus a $25 withdrawal fee; for all certificate programs the withdrawal fee is $50. No refunds will be given after that time. E-mail your withdrawal request to: course.withdrawals@temple.edu. Please note that if you do not officially withdrawal from a course and you do not attend the course, you are still responsible for payment. Temple University reserves the right to cancel a course for any reason. If the course is cancelled, you will be notified and your entire tuition will be refunded.
