Course Description

Activities include analytical studies of fingerprints, DNA, blood-types and blood-splatter patterns, tool and glass-fracture, fibers, gunshot residue, ballistics, and weapon identification. Events studied include lightning, fires, and explosion patterns. Discussions of legal aspects include the difference (in law) between ordinary and expert witnesses, and a legally-based video demonstrating the correct approach will be shown. Descriptions of scientific instruments used in forensic investigations, together with the scientific principles underlying their operation, will be presented in clear terms.
