For high school students and up with intermediate piano skills.
This one-week summer program offers students the unique opportunity to use their creativity to compose songs using technology. The program consists of listening, analyzing, and discussing various types of songs, and recording original music. Students will learn how to use structure, melody, rhythm, and harmony to support their lyrics and ideas. They also will learn to use a music sequence program to record their original music.
Broadway Triple Threat at Temple Music Prep is based on a model of the highly acclaimed musical theater intensive, Broadway Triple Threat NYC (BTTNYC), developed by Catherine Cox and David Evans*. The highly-focused, six-day program is designed for young actors in two age categories, 13 to 15 and 16 to 21, who want to advance their talent and artistry in singing, dancing, and acting, with the goal of developing into a “triple threat.” Students will be taught by Broadway veterans who will instill the craft and conviction required to fully express and project a character. Also included is a master class with a special guest artist from the Broadway industry. The six-day intensive will culminate in a relaxed final presentation for family and friends that celebrates process, talent, and individuality. Admission by audition only.

A special summer opportunity for participants in Modern Dance and Ballet Techniques or for dancer at an equivalent skill level.
For High School and College Students
Conveniently offered just prior to the Fall Semester, this one-week summer program consists of written and aural components. The course provides students with a thorough grounding in writing/singing fundamentals: keys, intervals, triads, 7th chords, and basic harmonic functions. Students are introduced to solfege/ear-training: identifying intervals, triads, sight-singing basic melodies, dictation of basic melodies. Location: Temple Center City, 1515 Market Street
