Temple University, in partnership with Kaplan Schweser, the leading provider of financial planning and education, offers the Certificate in Financial Planning (CFP) Program. This program meets the challenges faced by today's financial planning professionals in the brokerage, insurance, accounting, banking and related fields. This accelerated certificate program is designed around the demanding schedules of working professionals. The program benefits both experienced professionals seeking to advance their careers and those entering the field. The program fulfills the educational component, one of the four requirements for the CFP certification, established by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. This certificate is a cohort program which requires the successful completion of all course modules to earn the certificate.
The next session is scheduled to begin in Fall 2022 (September 2022).
Required six courses for the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) Certificate Program:
- General Financial Planning Principles, Professional Conduct, and Regulation/Risk Management, Insurance and Employee Benefits
- Investment Planning
- Retirement Savings and Income
- Tax Planning
- Estate Planning
- Capstone Case Course in Financial Planning

Books and study materials are an additional cost, and included in the program tuition. Plan to spend around $500 on books and other study materials.
The next session is scheduled to begin in Fall 2022 semester. The program will run from September 9, 2022 through May 20, 2023. We are planning for the CFP program to be offered live, in-person at the Temple University Center City (TUCC) campus. Class meet every other weekend on Friday nights and all day Saturdays. Participants who attend the free information session and then register for the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) Certificate Program, will receive a $250 discount of the certificate program fee.
CFP Cancellation, Withdrawal and Refund Policy
A participant who withdraws from a non-credit course, in writing, up to one-week (seven business days) prior to the starting date of the first course, will receive a refund, minus a $200 withdrawal fee. There are no other refunds. If you need to withdraw from the program, you have the option of re-entering during the next program offering. Tuition does not include books and materials.
