We are so excited to return to in-person pre-college this year and are looking forward to meeting you when you arrive on Temple’s campus this summer.

Your health is our highest priority, the pre-college COVID-19 policy describes how you can protect yourself from COVID-19 prior to arriving at Temple, and while enrolled in your pre-college program. It also describes what will happen if you get sick during your program.

  1. All students are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
“Fully vaccinated” means two shots of Moderna or Pfizer, or one shot of Johnson and Johnson. Other WHO-approved vaccines are also acceptable. Exemptions from vaccination are available to students who can provide proof of a legitimate religious belief or medical condition. You can submit your proof of vaccination or your request for an exemption by logging into your account at https://noncredit.temple.edu and clicking “My Applications.”
  2. Residential students will be required to take a COVID-19 test prior to arriving on campus.
You may test at home using an over-the-counter rapid test, or you may obtain a test at a local pharmacy or medical provider. Test results can be uploaded at https://noncredit.temple.edu/covid19.
  3. Boosters are strongly recommended.
If it has been more than five months since your last shot, we strongly recommend that you receive a booster before coming to campus. Boosters are the best way to protect against severe COVID infection and death, even from highly contagious variants. Getting a booster before you come to campus means that you will be up to date on your vaccinations.
  4. Quarantine will be required for students who are identified as close contacts to someone who has tested positive for COVID, but who are not up to date on vaccination.
Exposure to COVID-19 means being around someone who has tested positive for more than 15 minutes at a distance of less than 6 feet apart. If you are exposed to COVID-19 and you are unvaccinated or not “up to date” (vaccinated + boosted), you will be required to quarantine for five days. Most residential students will be asked to return home to quarantine, but quarantine space will be available on campus for students who need it. Students who are up to date on their vaccinations will NOT be required to quarantine if exposed unless they develop symptoms. Quarantining means that your in-person participation in your classes and other activities will be interrupted.
  5. If you get sick on campus, you will have options.
If you test positive for COVID-19, you will be asked to return home to isolate if your home is within 3 hours of Temple’s campus. If you live further than 3 hours from campus, or you cannot return home for any reason, you will isolate on Temple’s campus. This may require you to stay on campus later than your scheduled departure date if you are unable to safely travel.

We want to do our best to ensure a safe, healthy environment for all students. You can do your part by receiving your booster shot before you come to campus, which will give you the best chance of staying healthy and continuing your program uninterrupted.
