Course Description

Clinical Supervision Certificate Program


Temple University Harrisburg is offering a 20-hour certificate program in clinical supervision. The program will prepare participants to provide clinical supervision to graduate level clinicians seeking licensure or professional development. Through the use of lecture, case method discussion, interactive journaling and reading, participants will examine developmental and relational models of supervision, with an emphasis on the parallel process of supervision. The course concludes with two supervision groups in which supervisory vignettes brought in by participants will be utilized to illustrate the theoretical constructs.

Learner Outcomes

Objectives:

Participants successfully completing this program will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate comprehension of, and ability to guide supervisees in compliance with, state regulations guiding the practice of clinical supervision. 

  1. Formulate and present a personal guiding supervision philosophy 

  1.  Apply current research and literature to their structure and practice of supervision. 

  1. Incorporate principles of adult learning into their philosophy of supervision. 

  1. Demonstrate application of the social work code of ethics to supervision cases in written and verbal feedback to peers.

Continuing Education Credits:

This program has been approved for 20 continuing education hours (3 of which fulfill the ethics requirement) through co-sponsorship of Temple University Harrisburg, a PA State Board of Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists and Professional Counselors pre-approved provider of continuing education. These credit hours satisfy requirements for LSW/LCSW, LMFT, and LPC biennial license renewal. A certificate of attendance documenting continuing education hours will be issued by Temple University Harrisburg.  Cost is $20.00 to obtain CEU certificate.

Attendance Policy:

To earn a certificate of completion, you must attend all 4 class sessions in their entirety (equal to 20 hours) and successfully complete the post course work.

Based on the structure of the program and the need for continuity, participants are not able to make up missed time during future course offerings.

Any missed class time will affect the number of potential CE's you can qualify for, which will be adjusted based on the missed class time.

Cancellations and Refunds  

All cancellation requests must be made in writing via email to Rebecca Bieber at Rebecca.Bieber@temple.edu and received by the Temple University Harrisburg staff before becoming effective. Please note that if a registrant does not officially withdraw from a course and does not attend the course, the registrant is still responsible for payment.  

Cancellations received ten (10) business days or more prior to the start of the scheduled course will be eligible for a full refund of fees paid. Cancellations received nine (9) business days to one (1) business day prior to the start of the scheduled course will be subject to a cancellation charge of $10.00 for one day/session courses and $50.00 for multi day courses. Cancellations received less than one (1) business day prior to the start of the scheduled course will not be eligible for a refund.  

Request to Postpone Attendance:  

All requests to be transferred into a future offering must be submitted in writing via email to Rebecca Bieber at Rebecca.Bieber@temple.edu and received by the Temple University Harrisburg staff before becoming effective. Please note that if a registrant does not request a transfer into a future offering and does not attend as originally scheduled, the registrant is still responsible for payment. Transfer requests received ten (10) business days or more prior to the start of the scheduled course will be eligible for a one-time transfer at no cost. Additional transfer requests or requests less than 10 days prior to the start of the course will be subject to a $50.00 administrative fee.  

Weather Related Cancellations: (Applies to face-to-face classroom courses only) 

In the event of inclement weather, TUH will make every effort to cancel events with as much advance notice as possible. Notification will be sent via email/DestinyOne once a decision to close or delay has been made. In all instances TUH will follow the University’s and/or the agency’s cancellation decisions.

This course is designed for those who hold a master's degree in social work, psychology, counseling or other human services field and work in therapeutic settings.
