Course DescriptionSuzuki, a specialized method of musical instruction for young children ages 4 to 8 years, is offered in cello, violin, guitar and piano. In the Suzuki Method, also known as the “Mother Tongue Approach,” children learn music the same way they learn language. Following Dr. Suzuki’s premise that “any child can be educated and developed to a high level,” parents and teachers work together to create an encouraging and supportive environment in which children develop by listening, imitating and watching others. Parents attend all private lessons and group classes with their child and guide the student’s daily practice.
Course OutlinePre-Twinkle Classes provide opportunities for very young children to develop basic musicianship and readiness skills for success in the Suzuki approach. Music from different Suzuki instruments will be featured helping to transition students into the more formal environment of lessons as well as introducing parents to the Suzuki philosophy.
Learner OutcomesBoth child and parent observe and learn from the instructor as well as others in the class. Children develop concentration, good posture and beautiful tone in this supportive group environment.
